A Hymn to the Mother of God

Since this site is dedicated to our Lady, the Birth-giver of God, it seems right to begin with a hymn of praise to her. What follows is the Dogmatic for Saturday night Great Vespers in the first tone:

"Let us hymn the Virgin Mary, who budded forth from man and gave birth to the Master. She is the glory of all the world, the heavenly door, the hymn of the bodiless hosts, and the adornment of the faithful. She destroyed the middle wall of enmity, ushered in peace and opened the Kingdom. Therefore, having her as the foundation of our faith, we have as a defender the Lord to Whom she gave birth. Be courageous, therefore, be courageous ye people of God; for, as all-powerful, He shall defeat our enemies."
